How Do I Use Peer Review In The Video Assignments Tool?

Modified on: Wed, Jul 10 2019 9:33 AM

If your instructor is using the Video Assignments tool with peer review in Brightspace, the instructions below should explain the process for completing the peer review portion of the assignment. Please see the Video Assignments tool tutorial for information on how to submit a video assignment.

1. In Brightspace, click on Content and navigate to the module that contains the link to your video assignment and click on it.

2. Since you have already submitted your video assignment, you will be presented with a screen similar to the one below. Place your mouse in the middle area of the page and scroll down to see the rest of the page content.

3. You will see a section that shows one of your peers with a drop-down menu showing your peer's names. Click on the name if you'd like to to select a different peer to review.

4. Click on the video to view it.

5. Once you have viewed the video, you will notice that "Viewed Submission" highlights blue with a checkmark, as shown below. Continue to the next step.

6. In this step you will be leaving feedback for your peer. You can do this by recording a video with your feedback or writing text feedback. Be sure to check the documentation for your assignment to ensure that you are using the correct method, if one has been specified by the instructor.

        a. To record video feedback, click on the small "camera" icon, located to the left of the word "Comment...". This will open a video recording window similar to what you probably used to record your video assignment. Click "Record" to begin recording. Click "Stop Recording" when finished. Click the "save" icon in the bottom right corner of the video recording window to save and submit your video feedback.

        b. To write text feedback, click on the word "Comment..." and begin typing your feedback. Once you have finished writing your feedback, click on the "submit" button to the right of the "Comment..." field. The submit button looks like a paper airplane.

7. Click on the stars to rate your peer's video. If you accidentally click on the wrong star, you can change your entry by clicking on another one to change your rating. You should also notice on this screen that it shows how many of your peers you have reviewed for this assignment. If the instructor has required you to review 2 peers, this bar will help you to keep track of your progress with the peer review process. Click on the peer's name to select a different peer.

8. Scrolling down below the Peer Review area will reveal your video assignment submission. You can self evaluate your submission, if desired or required. You can also view your submission's rating and the feedback left for you by your peers.
