Protected View in Microsoft Word protects your computer from viruses and malicious scripts that could be embedded in Word documents. Always be cautious about opening files, including Word documents from unknown sources.
In some cases, you may want to disable Protected View from blocking access to Word documents, so you can more easily view, print, and edit the documents. Follow the instructions below to disable Protected View.
- Start Word, click “File” and then choose “Options”.
- Click “Trust Center” and then “Trust Center Options”.
- Click “Protected View”, then disable (uncheck) all three of the options listed there.
- Click “OK” and you’re done!
