How2 Copy Individual Items From Another Course Shell

Modified on: Fri, Apr 1 2022 8:37 AM

By the end of this tutorial, you will be able to...

  • Copy individual items, such as one quiz or discussion from one course shell you have instructor access to into another course where you are an instructor.

IMPORTANT: Copied content retains any dates and will need to be updated under "Course Admin > Manage Dates".

1. Click on "Course Admin" and click on "Import/Export/Copy Components" within the course you are wanting to copy your content to.

2. Choose "Copy Components from another Org Unit" and search for the course.

3. Choose "Select Components".

You have the option to copy the entire course as it is currently, or to select the components that you want to copy individually.  Please keep in mind that selecting the components individually may result in more editing.

4. Select the categories of individual items you want to copy and select the "Select individual items to copy" radio button under each category you are copying from, as shown below with Content.

5. The next screen will show you all of the individual items from each category that you can copy. Select the item, or items, you want to copy and click Continue.

6. If you want to offset the availability dates for the items you are copying, you can do so here. You can also change the dates/times manually in the new course shell once the items are copied. Click Finish.

7. Wait for the "Copying in progress" bar to complete. It will look like the picture below while it is copying your items from one course shell to the other.

8. Once copying has completed, you will see a green checkmark, like the one shown below. It is now safe to navigate away from this page.
