Apply a custom course homepage. 1. Select "Course Admin". You will need to be within your course before you can select the "Course Admin" selection. 2. Select "Homepages" from Site Setup. 3. Select the dropdown next to the current default homepage, and click "Copy". This step is important as you want to make a copy of the template. 4. Click the "Copy" version of the homepage. The homepages are a hyperlink, and the dropdowns are the actions for the homepage. Click on the "Copy" version of the homepage to edit the homepage. 5. Change the name of your homepage. Homepages are often used year after year, so it is a good idea to change the name of your course homepage to something other than the default. 6. Change settings, and then select "Save and Close". You are able to change the layout of the homepage, if you would like. It is recommended that you have the widgets ANNOUNCEMENTS, INSTRUCTOR WIDGET TEMPLATE, and GREAT FALLS COLLEGE MSU D2L SUPPORT on the homepage. Daylight is mobile responsive and the layout is designed for one or two vertical columns. 7. Choose the homepage you want to apply under Active Homepage, and then click "Apply".

Your personal menu is your name in the upper right hand corner of the D2L page. 2. Choose what settings you would like to adjust. Account settings allow you to change your email address, password, font settings, dialog pop-up settings, etc. Discussion settings adjust your discussion post, subscription, and rating settings. Email settings allow you to forward email, include a signature, and adjust display settings. The metadata settings are set by admins and are not typically used by instructors.

IMPORTANT: Copied content retains any dates and will need to be updated under "Course Admin > Manage Dates". Note: Instructors can only copy content that they have access to as an instructor. Any courses where you are not enrolled as an instructor will not be visible when you search for a course to copy from. 1. Click on "Course Admin" and click on "Import/Export/Copy Components" within the course you are wanting to copy your content into. 2. Choose "Copy Components from another Org Unit" and click "search for offering". Search for the previous course you want to copy from and select it. 3. Choose "Copy All Components". 4. Stay on this screen until it shows that the process has completed.

Faculty - Activate a Course By the end of this tutorial, you will be able to... Active your course in D2L. 1. Click "Course Admin". Make sure you are in the course you want to activate. "Course Admin" will only appear from within a course. 2. Click "Course Offering Information". "Course Offering Information" is located under the heading Site Setup. 3. Click "Course is Active" checkbox. If "Course is Active" is not checkmarked, students will not be able to see the course. You can also adjust the start and end date to activated and deactivate the course on the dates selected, but you must also like "Course is Active" for the date settings to take effect. 4. Click "Save".

Click your name in the upper right hand corner of the D2L screen. 2. Select "Profile". 3. Edit what you would like other people to see. Please keep in mind that your students will be able to see your profile. It is recommended that you do not give out your personal social networking information. Also, creating a personal profile does not take the place of creating an instructor profile within the course.

The HTML (hypertext markup language) appears whenever you can format text within D2L. It does not appear in files you have simply uploaded to D2L, such as a Microsoft Word file. Word processing programs also use HTML to format text. Some people worry that HTML means they will need some knowledge of coding to use it, but that is not true. The HTML editor in D2L is like most HTML editors in word processing programs, meaning that clicking a button will change the font.
