Faculty - How2 Create an Accessible Syllabus using the Syllabus Template
By the end of this tutorial, you will be able to... Create an accessible syllabus using Microsoft Word. Video of Syllabus Procedure You can download the Syllabus Template by going to Faculty & Staff on the gfcmsu website. Please contact your the Administrative Assistant or Division Director of your department regarding what content must be included in your syllabus. Note: If you want to delete a text box because it will not allow you to format correctly (italics for book titles, creating a simple table, or creating a bulleted list, for example), you may do so as long as the document passes the accessibility check. If you need any help with errors after running the accessibility checker, we can assist you. Accessibility Checker Tips: You may notice that you receive suggestions about table order. The directions in the accessibility checker state to ensure the reading of the table is accurate by using the "tab" button on your keyboard to move from box to box. Additionally, you can ignore the suggestion regarding the length of the title, as it is our university's name.

Faculty - Required Course Elements
At a minimum, ALL courses (even if taught only face-to-face) must have the following elements within the course in D2L: 1. An instructor widget with the following information: Professional Image Instructor's Name Program Affiliation Contact information including Phone/Email/Office You may include your office hours (including virtual), and an average response time 2. The syllabus loaded to the content section of the course. The syllabus should be accessible. See Faculty - How2 Create an Accessible Syllabus using the Syllabus Template for the accessible and updated syllabus template. 3. An announcement introduction to the course. 4. Grades posted to Brightspace by D2L, unless using a third-party LMS to support the course, such as My Math Lab or a similar product.
