Click on the "Assessment" tab in the course navigation menu. Select "Quizzes" from the dropdown menu. Creating a New Quiz: In the Quizzes page, click on the "New Quiz" button. Enter a name for your quiz in the "Title" field. Optionally, you can add a description for your quiz in the "Description" field. Click on the "Save and Close" button to create the quiz. Setting Quiz Properties: After creating the quiz, click on its title to open the Quiz properties page. In the Properties tab, you can configure settings such as: Availability dates Time limits Attempts allowed Grading options etc. Adding Questions to the Quiz: Click on the "Edit" button located next to the quiz title. Inside the quiz, click on the "Add/Edit Questions" button. Adding a Multiple Choice Question: Inside the quiz editor, click on the "New" button and select "Multiple Choice" from the dropdown menu. Enter the question text in the provided field. Optionally, you can add additional information by clicking on Options and selecting what you would like to add from the list. Enter the answer choices in the provided fields. You can add as many choices as needed by clicking on the "Add Answer" button. Select the correct answer by checking the corresponding circle next to the answer choice. Click on the "Save" button to add the multiple choice question to the quiz. Adding a True or False Question: Inside the quiz editor, click on the "New" button and select "True or False" from the dropdown menu. Enter the statement for the true or false question in the provided field. Select the correct answer by clicking on the corresponding radio button next to "True" or "False". Assign points to the question by entering a value in the "Points" field. Optionally, you can add additional information by clicking on Options and selecting what you would like to add from the list. Click on the "Save" button to add the true or false question to the quiz. Adding a Fill in the Blanks Question: Inside the quiz editor, click on the "New" button and select "Fill in the Blanks" from the dropdown menu. In the Question Text field, enter any text that should come before the blank, enter the correct answer in the blank box (selecting appropriate evaluation options), enter any text that should come after the blank in the Text #2 field. You can add additional blank fields and additional text fields, if necessary, using the Add Blank and Add Text buttons. Optionally, you can provide a question hint and/or question feedback in the appropriate fields at the bottom of the page. Click on the "Save" button to add the fill in the blanks question to the quiz. Adding a Multi-Select Question: Inside the quiz editor, click on the "New" button and select "Multi-Select" from the dropdown menu. Enter the question text in the provided field. Enter the answer choices in the provided fields. You can add as many choices as needed by clicking on the "Add Answer" button. Select all the correct answers by checking the corresponding checkboxes next to the answer choices. Optionally, you can add additional information by clicking on Options and selecting what you would like to add from the list. Click on the "Save" button to add the multi-select question to the quiz. Adding a Matching Question: Inside the quiz editor, click on the "New" button and select "Matching" from the dropdown menu. Enter the prompt for the matching question in the Question Text field. This prompt typically provides the context or instructions for the matching task. Enter each choice that will be matched in the Choices area, using the Add Choice button to add additional choices. In the Matches section below, add each match, using the Add Match button to add additional matches. In the Correct Choice column, select the correct Choice that matches this Match. Optionally, add a question hint and/or feedback in the section at the bottom of the page. Click on the "Save" button to add the matching question to the quiz. Adding an Ordering Question: Inside the quiz editor, click on the "New" button and select "Ordering" from the dropdown menu. Enter the Question Text in the Question Text box that provide instructions and context for the ordering activity. Enter the items that need to be ordered in the provided fields. Use the Add Item button to add additional items to the list. Use the Correct Order column to select the correct order for each item in the list. Add Feedback in the Feedback column. Click on the "Save" button to add the ordering question to the quiz. Adding a Written Response Question: Inside the quiz editor, click on the "New" button and select "Written Response" from the dropdown menu. Enter the question prompt or instructions in the Question Text field. Optionally, you can add additional information by clicking on Options and selecting what you would like to add from the list. Checking the Enable HTML Editor box will provide the students with a WYSIWYG editor that allows them to format their text. Checking the Allow learners to insert images and add attachments will allow the student to insert images and add attachments. Click on the "Save" button to add the written response question to the quiz. Adding a Short Answer Question: Inside the quiz editor, click on the "New" button and select "Short Answer" from the dropdown menu. Enter the question prompt or instructions in the Question Text field. Enter the correct answer in the "Answers for Blank 1" box, setting the evaluation options by clicking on the "abc" dropdown menu. Use the Add Blank button to add additional blanks. Optionally, you can add additional information by clicking on Options and selecting what you would like to add from the list. Click on the "Save" button to add the short answer question to the quiz. Adding an Arithmetic Question: Inside the quiz editor, click on the "New" button and select "Arithmetic" from the dropdown menu. Enter the question prompt or instructions in the provided field. Optionally, you can add additional instructions or context in the "Description" field. Specify the arithmetic operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) to be performed. Enter the operands for the arithmetic operation. You can specify either random or fixed values for the operands. Optionally, you can specify a range for the operands if you chose random values. Optionally, you can specify the number of decimal places for the operands and answers. Optionally, you can assign points to the question by entering a value in the "Points" field. If necessary, you can attach a file or add a link to additional resources using the "Attachments" or "Links" tabs. Click on the "Save" button to add the arithmetic question to the quiz. Adding a Significant Figures Question: Inside the quiz editor, click on the "New" button and select "Significant Figures" from the dropdown menu. Enter the question prompt or instructions in the provided field. Optionally, you can add additional instructions or context in the "Description" field. Specify the significant figures rules to be followed for the question (e.g., rounding rules). Enter the value or expression for which significant figures are to be determined. Optionally, you can specify the number of significant figures allowed in the answer. Optionally, you can assign points to the question by entering a value in the "Points" field. If necessary, you can attach a file or add a link to additional resources using the "Attachments" or "Links" tabs. Click on the "Save" button to add the significant figures question to the quiz. Adding a Multi-Short Answer Question: Inside the quiz editor, click on the "New" button and select "Multi-Short Answer" from the dropdown menu. Enter the question prompt or instructions in the Question Text field. In the Options area, you can select the number of input boxes, rows, and columns to display. Use the Add Answer button to add additional answers. Enter each answer in a separate Answer field, set the weight of the answer, and the evaluation method. Optionally, you can add a question hint and/or feedback in the boxes at the bottom of the page. Click on the "Save" button to add the multi-short answer question to the quiz.

Faculty - How2 Adjust the Quiz Submission View
It is important to adjust the quiz submission view in order to provide the students with feedback regarding their assessments. The following video will demonstrate how to associate objectives, and how to adjust the submission views students see after taking the quiz. Allow Students To See Their Submission View Immediately Upon Completion From the course, click on Toolbox > Quizzes and click on the name of the quiz you would like to edit. Click on the "Submission Views" tab. Under the "View Details" section select the "Yes" option. Show questions answered incorrectly - Only questions graded with a point value of 0 will be displayed. Show questions answered correctly - Only questions graded with a point value above 0 will be displayed. Show all questions without user responses - All questions will be displayed, without any of the user's responses. Show all questions with user responses - All questions will be displayed, along with the user's responses. Show question answers - Displays the correct answer for each question that is displayed, (based on choices above). Click "Save" when done editing the quiz. Allow Students To See Their Submission View At A Later Date (typically after the end date for the quiz has passed) From the course, click on Toolbox > Quizzes and click on the name of the quiz you would like to edit. Click on the "Submission Views" tab. Click on the "Add Additional View" button. Under "View Restrictions", set the date and time that the additional view should be made available to students. IP Restriction - It is not recommended to use this option. Limited Duration - It is not recommended to use this option. Under the "View Details" section select the "Yes" option. Show questions answered incorrectly - Only questions graded with a point value of 0 will be displayed. Show questions answered correctly - Only questions graded with a point value above 0 will be displayed. Show all questions without user responses - All questions will be displayed, without any of the user's responses. Show all questions with user responses - All questions will be displayed, along with the user's responses. Show question answers - Displays the correct answer for each question that is displayed, (based on choices above). Click "Save" when done editing the quiz.

Faculty - How To Automatically Grade Quizzes
Quizzes that do not have short answer or long answer responses can be setup to automatically grade the quiz and publish the score to the gradebook. Please follow the steps below. From within your course, go to Toolbox > Quizzes and click on the name of the quiz you would like to edit. Click on the "Assessment" tab. Check the box that says, "Allow attempt to be set as graded immediately upon completion. Select the "Grade Item" to publish the grade to. (Or use "add grade item" if the grade item doesn't already exist in your gradebook".) Check the box that says, "Allow automatic export to grades".

Faculty - Setting Up A Weighted Gradebook
Instructors who wish to use weighted grades should do the following: From the course you would like to setup a weighted gradebook, click on "Grades" in the navigation menu. Click on "Setup Wizard". Click "Start". Choose "Weighted" for the grading system of choice and click "Continue". Select whether to release the Calculated Final Grade or the Adjusted Final Grade and click "Continue". Calculated Final Grade - The grade that is achieved by users based on the grading formula set up in the grade book. It cannot be adjusted without editing grade item scores. Adjusted Final Grade - Allows you to modify or adjust users' grades before releasing them. Automatically release final grade - When enabled, the system automatically marks users' final grades as released once created. You may still alter the release status after being automatically released. Select whether to drop ungraded items or treat ungraded items as 0 and click "Continue". Drop ungraded items - Items that do not have a grade inputted are not counted in the final grade. Treat ungraded items as 0 - Items that do not have a grade inputted are counted as 0 in the final grade. Automatically keep final grade updated - Final grades are automatically adjusted when changes are made to grade items or calculation options. Select a default grading scheme from either Percentage or Letter Grading Scheme and click "Continue". Select the number of decimal places to display and click "Continue". Select options to affect the student's view of their gradebook items and click "Continue". Confirm the options you have selected and click the "Finish" button.
