Faculty - How2 Create your Instructor Widget
Modified on: Tue, Jul 30 2019 1:15 PMA simulation of the procedure is now available!
Please complete this simulation to practice the steps that you will need to go through to create your instructor widget. This simulation demonstrates why you may not be able to edit your instructor widget, and the easiest method to fix the problem. If you have an instructor widget made in another course, remember that you can copy content from one of your other courses by following the directions found in Faculty - How2 Copy Content From Previous Semesters.
The steps below are what you can choose to do to create an instructor widget once you have copied your course homepage. If you are having trouble, please start with the simulation first.
Faculty - Create a Custom Instructor Widget
By the end of this tutorial, you will be able to...
- Create a custom instructor widget using the embedded Instructor Widget Template.
- Create a custom instructor widget using "Create Widget".
IMPORTANT: Before you create your instructor widget, make sure you have copied the homepage you want to use, and have applied the homepage. See Faculty - Create, Rename, and Apply a Custom Course Homepage for additional assistance.
1. Edit "Instructor Widget Template" on homepage.
The "Instructor Widget Template" is automatically included in the default homepage. On your homepage, select the down arrow, and click "Edit this widget".
2. Change the "Name" of the template.
The name of the template will appear to the students. It is recommended that you change the name to something like "Meet Instructor __________".
3. Click "Content" and fill out information.
It is recommended that your instructor profile includes a professional image, your name, your program affiliation, and contact information including phone and email (@gfcmsu.edu address). It is also a good idea to explain the turn-around timeframe for correspondence. Don't forget to save!
