Faculty - How2 Insert Videos Using the Panopto D2L Integration
Embedding Panopto Videos in Brightspace Content Once you have created a video with Panopto or uploaded a video to Panopto, it is very easy to embed that video content within your course in Brightspace. Note: This is optional, as it is not necessary to embed Panopto videos in Brightspace, as students can view them by going to Toolbox > Panopto Recordings in their course to view the video content. Go to your course in Brightspace and click on Toolbox > Panopto Recordings. Click on Content. Click on the module you want your video to live in. Click on Upload/Create > Create A File. Give the file a good, descriptive title. Click on the "insert stuff" button. Click on Panopto, you may need to scroll down inside of this window in order to see it. A list of all of your videos recorded in or uploaded to this course (in Panopto) will appear. Select the radio button (circle to the left of the video) to select the video you wish to embed. Scroll down within the list of videos until you see a green "Insert" button and click on the green "Insert" button. You will see a preview of your video within the Brightspace content window. If it looks good, click the blue "Insert" button. Make sure your content topic has a title and add any other content you wish to this content page. Once you are finished, click "Save and Close".

Faculty - How to Allow Viewers to Record Videos Using Assignment Folders
How to Allow Viewers to Record Videos Using Assignment Folders How-To Video Overview An Assignment Folder (referred to as 'Drop Box' in a previous version) is a subfolder that shares its user list with its parent folder but gives the users some additional privileges. Assignment Folders enable Viewer users in their parent folder to create and manage their own content while preventing them from viewing other users' content that has not been explicitly shared or made public. Prerequisites Creator access to Panopto 1. Creating an Assignment Folder 1.1. To give a user access to the Assignment Folder, the user needs to have viewer access to the parent folder. This can be accomplished by sharing the parent folder to the user or group specifically or by sharing with a wider audience such as Anyone at the Organization. If a folder is listed as Anyone at the Organization and it has an assignment folder, everyone in the organization has access to record to that Assignment Folder. 1.2. Go to the Settings of the parent folder and click Share. 1.3. Add a user to the folder by typing in their name or email address in the Add People section or select a wider audience to share with. 1.4. Viewers can only add sessions to the assignment folder if they have viewer access to the parent folder (Fig. 1). Figure 1 1.5. Go to the Overview tab of the folder. 1.6. On the Overview screen, click on the button labeled "Create Assignment Folder" (Fig. 2). Figure 2 1.7. Once the assignment folder is created, you will see a new link that is [assignments] (Fig. 3). Figure 3 1.8. On the main interface page, you will see that the folder has been added as a subfolder to the original with the word "[assignments]" added to the end. 1.9. Now viewers that are shared to the original "Maths 101" in this example will be able to add content to the newly created [assignments] folder. 2. Recording to an assignment folder Note: As a viewer with assignment folder privileges, you may log in to your organization's Panopto server and download the recorder. Please go to Installing the Windows Recorder or Installing the Mac Recorder if you need assistance with this process. 2.1. Login to the Panopto Recorder. 2.2. Click on the large arrow button to select the folder where you wish to record (Fig. 4). In this example, the user "Student A" was given access to "Maths 101" so they will see and be able to select the associated [assignments] folder under their choices. Figure 4 2.3. Click on the large red Record button to begin recording your session. 2.4. After recording, you can verify that the session has been recorded by logging in to your organization's server and clicking on your assignment folder (Fig. 5). Remember that you will only be able to edit and delete submissions that you have uploaded to the server. Figure 5 3. Allow all users in an assignment folder to view other users' content Note: Starting in Panopto 4.4 we introduced a feature that allows assignment folder users to view the other content submitted to the assignment folder. 3.1. Click on Settings for an assignment folder to enable this setting. The default is that this setting is not enabled, and students cannot see each other assignments (Fig. 6). Figure 6 4. Closing an assignment folder 4.1. Go to the folder and click on settings. 4.2. On the Overview screen, scroll down to where it says Assignment Folder. You will see the word Close. Clicking this will prevent viewers of the folder from accessing and adding content to the assignment folder, but as the creator, you will still have access (Fig. 7). Figure 7

Faculty - Panopto Videos Are Giving Students a Must Request Access Message
When inserting videos from Panopto into course content in Brightspace, it is best to use the "Insert Stuff" function that is located on the Content editor toolbar to embed the video directly into the content. Providing the video to the students in this way allows the video to automatically carry forward correctly when you copy your course forward. Providing links to videos in course content will not allow future students access to the videos. If you have any questions or concerns about this information please contact the Instructional Technology Specialist in the Technology Assistance Center for assistance. Faculty - Copy Panopto Videos From One Course Folder To Another Within Panopto
When videos are created or uploaded into Panopto, they are added to a course specific folder within Panopto. This means that the videos will not exist in a subsequent semester's course folder within Panopto. If you are using the insert stuff method to embed videos in your course content within bright space, this shouldn't matter unless you have interactive content that you want the students to be able to use such as quizzes, table of contents, etc. It is easy to copy videos between course folders in Panopto using the instructions below: In Brightspace, go to the new course where you want the videos copied to and click on Toolbox > Panopto Recordings. (This creates the new course's folder in Panopto if it didn't already exist) Now go to the course where the videos exist within a Panopto folder. Click on Toolbox > Panopto Recordings. On the right side of the page under "Powered by Panopto", you will see an icon that looks like a square with an arrow coming out of it. Click on it to open Panopto in a new tab or window. In the new tab you should see the same videos you saw within Brightspace, however now when you move your mouse over a video's thumbnail you will see a checkbox in the upper left corner. Check the boxes for each video you wish to copy to another course. Near the top of the page, you will see buttons for Delete, Copy, Move, Share. Click on Copy. (Do not use the Move function) You should see a popup window that says "Copy video(s) to". Click in the box below that text and either browse to the destination course, or start typing the course code directly in the box and select the destination course. Click the green "Copy" button. That's it!
